Spring is the perfect time to freshen up your homeschool routine with hands-on learning, nature adventures, and fun seasonal activities. Whether you're starting a spring unit study, planning outdoor playtime, or just looking to add some seasonal joy to your homeschool day, these are our favorite spring-themed products that preschoolers (and parents!) will love.
These are all items I’ve either used personally or added to my wishlist because they’re perfect for spring learning. They also make great gift ideas for Easter baskets or nature-themed learning kits!
Spring Science & Nature Activities
Watch the magic of metamorphosis right in your own home! This live butterfly garden lets kids observe caterpillars grow into beautiful butterflies — perfect for your life cycle lessons. I love the Insect Lore kits. The kit linked below also comes with a Butterfly Observation Journal.
Tip:
Before releasing our butterflies, we set up a small tent in the backyard and let them go inside it first. This gave us a chance to gently hold and observe them up close before setting them free. Just be sure to count the butterflies before folding up the tent to make sure they all made it out safely!
These hands-on kits are fascinating and low-maintenance. My kids love checking in on their bug “pets” every day.
Bonus Benefit:
The ladybug kit is also a great way to teach kids responsibility. Each day, they’ll need to give the ladybugs a couple drops of water, and once the ladybugs emerge, they’ll get to feed them raisins. It’s a fun, hands-on way for kids to care for living creatures and build gentle daily habits.
These cards turn any outdoor time into an exciting sensory adventure! Each card prompts your child to find something in nature based on texture, color, shape, or sound — like “something rough” or “something round.” They’re perfect for nature walks, backyard play, or even a quick brain break outside, all while building observation and vocabulary skills.
Spring Arts & Crafts
Spring Flower Cutouts
These vibrant flower cutouts are perfect for creating your own spring garden scenes! Kids can mix and match the pieces to build their own flowers, arrange colorful bouquets, or design an entire pretend flower field. Just add glue, paper, and imagination for hours of open-ended creativity.

These adorable stamps are perfect for spring-themed crafts! With a mix of flowers and bugs, your preschooler can create their own garden scenes. For example, kids can create a sky, grass, and trees on a paper, then add in the details with the bug stamps and little flowers.
Stamps are great for fine motor practice and open-ended creativity.
Play-Doh Blooming Flower Garden Set
This spring-themed Play-Doh set lets kids “grow” their own blooming flower garden! Just load the Play-Doh and to see colorful flowers sprout up. It’s a fun, hands-on way to explore spring themes while building fine motor skills and encouraging creative play. Perfect for rainy day fun or adding a little spring cheer to your homeschool day!

Outdoor Spring Fun
Equip your kids with a little explorer kit and head outside! They’ll love examining bugs, leaves, and anything that crawls.
Child-Sized Gardening Tools
These tools actually work and are just the right size for preschoolers to help in the garden or with a sensory planting bin.
Here are my 3 favorite tool sets:
Tool Set 1: Comes with a little wheelbarrow.
Tool Set 2: Comes with a children's book about gardening.
Tool Set 3: Comes with seed paper to grow your own plants.
This all-in-one kit lets kids plant and grow their very own sunflowers — right from home! With painted flower pots, soil discs, seeds, and cute decorations, it’s the perfect spring project to teach patience, responsibility, and a love for nature. Watching their flowers sprout is just as exciting as planting them!
