Witch Hair Halloween Countdown Chain

Witch Hair Halloween Countdown Chain

Supplies:

1. Make the witch face: Cut a large triangle out of the black paper for the witch’s hat. Then cut out a large green circle for her head. Glue the hat on top of her face. Add the googley eyes and a nose and mouth. We made a 3D nose by folding down one end of the paper and gluing the bent flap to the face. We also added a few warts to her nose!

2. Cut the witch hair: Cut 30 strips of paper using scissors or a paper slicer. We used green and purple paper and are making a fun pattern with them. We gave our witch two strands of hair on each side of her face, but you can make her hair go any way you’d like.

3. Add the witch hair: Create a circle with each slice of paper, adding them to each other, creating a paper chain. I like to attach these paper chains with tape, but you can use glue or even staples. We made 4 chains – 2 with 7 chains and 2 with 8 chains to equal 30 chains. Then the last day will just be the witches spooky face!

With your white crayon, add in a fun message to her black hat! Now she’s ready to countdown to Halloween.

Either way you paper chain, it’s fun for the kids to watch as they get closer to the day of dressing-up and eating candy!

Pig Learning Activities for Kids

Pig Learning Activities for Kids
Pig Day!!
Pig Day was so much fun!  We stretched it out for two weeks because there were so many fun activities.

Exercise
I'm sure I say this every time but, we like to do the exercise in the morning because the kids get so wound up when they see each other so this help them to get out all of their wiggles!
Especially when you rotate houses, they kids are so excited for the new environment too.

This week we did an obstacle course with some of the gymnastics equipment my friend had at her house.
Keep it simple!
Don't over think it.  Once you start over thinking it, it will get too hard and you wont stay committed.

Reading
This is so important!
If your kids don't really enjoy reading, try making it interactive or get really excited, maybe even somewhat act it out when you read.

Find a book of pig facts!  Even if your kids are a little older and the book is a super easy read, that's okay because we just need the facts and we need to know WHY we are doing the activities we are doing later.  It's much easier to reference back to a simple book than a more complicated one.

Not so much a learning activity about pigs but we have a fun craft and experiment to go with this.
You can also check on YouTube for some fun videos!

OFF THE TOPIC... KINDA
We grew up with this book and I always loved it.  It's a funny twist to the three little pigs... the wolf's side of the story.  If your kids are a little older, they might really love

Again, not really a book to teach kids about pigs but we have a fun craft to go with this book.
The Elephant & Piggie books are easy books to read and easy to emphasize so that kids get excited!

Pigs in the Mud!
This is a great opportunity to talk about how pigs don't sweat and how they use mud to cool off.

What you need:
This activity is so simple!  All you do is let the kids put the pudding on the pig paper while you talk about how pigs don't sweat and they use mud to cool off.
Then the kids can eat the pudding when they are done.

Lunch Time!
Pigs in a blanket.
Who else ate these as a kid?
They are so easy to make and the perfect lunch to go with the theme!
Basically, we got biscuits and mini sausages.  Wrapped the sausages in the biscuits and cooked them according the the biscuit directions.  I broke the biscuits into 3rds.
I used the vegan version of everything.  The store only had vegan breakfast sausages and let me tell you... they were so amazing!  The next week I made them again for my kids with maple syrup!

Parts of a Pig
Learn to identify the pig, write the word 'pig' and label all of its body parts with this printable download.

The 3 Little Pigs
What we used:
After you read The Three Little Pigs , the adults make the structure of the house with the large popsicle sticks and hot glue. I made mine into a tee pee shape. Then have the kids stack the materials against the structure.
For the brick house, have the kids build a house with the blocks.

Turn your blow dryer into the big bad wolf (see picture) and have him try to huff and puff and blow the houses down!

Talk to your kids about what they experienced.
What material was easy to knock down and what didn't get knocked down?

Piggy Bank
This was a fun little activity we did to help the kids learn about money.

You can let them look at it and see the different between pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.  Or, if they are old enough you can have them add money.

We used a water bottle, paper, googly eyes, pipe cleaner, and cork.

Other Recommendations...
Look into visiting a local farm.
OR
Even better, a farm sanctuary.  At farm sanctuaries, the animals are saved from abusive environments so you are encouraged to get up close and personal with the animals and even hug them.  At a farm sanctuary, you get a very unique experience with the animals!

I was hesitant about going because the closest one to me was pretty far and I had two very young babies but I don't regret one second of it!  I actually can't wait to go again!

Rainbow Rice Sensory Activity for Preschoolers

Sensory play is beneficial not just for preschoolers, but for children of all ages. Sensory play stimulates the child's five main senses – touch, sight, sound, taste, and smell – as they engage with materials and their environment. Rainbow Rice Sensory Activity, in particular, is a colorful, versatile play opportunity, providing a multisensory experience that's both therapeutic and educational.

Gary's Great Day Protocol

Gary's Great Day Protocol
Whether you just want to start each day on the right foot, you have a specific issue you are working through or it's 8 am and it's already been a long day... this is an AMAZING protocol!

How to do it:

  • Step 1: VALOR
Start with Valor Essential Oil, known for balancing the body’s electrical energy. Apply a few drops in the palm of your left hand, gently rub your palms together in a clockwise motion, and bring your oiled palms to your nose and inhale. Set your intention for the day, utilizing the grounding properties of this blend. Next, put some Valor on the back of your neck and then place another drop on the inside of your wrists and hold your wrist together for a moment. As you hold the pulse points of your wrists together, again breathe in the oil blend and take a moment to be still while affirming your intentions for the day. What state of being would you like to cultivate? What do you want to accomplish today?

  • Step 2: HARMONY
Place a drop of Harmony on your left palm, rub your palms together in a clockwise motion, inhaling the oil blend and place some Harmony on your solar plexus, just below your sternum, and above your belly button. This is your third chakra, or your “will” energy center. As you inhale the aroma, use the affirmation, “Let my will harmonize and align to the greater good for all I connect with today.” You may have a specific intention for harmonizing with your customers, your co-workers, family, friends, etc.

  • Step 3: JOY
This blend is one of Young Living’s signature essential oils. Place a drop of Joy into your left palm, rub your hands together, and slowly inhale the scent. Then place your hands on your heart. If you are looking to become more open hearted, use these moments to let this blend infuse into your heart’s desire.

  • Step 4: White Angelica
This blend is known for its properties for energetic protection, like a bouncer for negative energy or disturbing thoughts. Place a drop of White Angelica in your left palm, rub your palms together and deeply inhale. Then gently brush your palms over the crown of your head, down your neck, shoulders, chest, torso, and all the way down your legs to your feet. Imagine this blend encasing your entire body, like a guardian shield. Again, revisit your intention for your day.

I challenge everyone to try this for a week and see you if feel the difference.

Easy Bird Feeder Activity for Kids

Easy Bird Feeder Activity for Kids
This bird feeder activity was so much fun!

BONUS!  We got to go to the pet store to get the bird food so the activity included a fun field trip.  Luckily we couldn't stay long because I almost bought a fish!

What you need:
If you use the card stock, rolling it into a tube and tape it in place.
I like to use masking tape because the peanut butter sticks to it better than clear tape.
With your rubber spatula, spread a thin layer of peanut butter on the paper or on the craft roll.
Pour some bird seed on the paper plate and roller the tube in the seed until it is fully coated.
Head outside to find a branch to hang it on.
Then wait very quietly to see what bird come to eat.

I love this craft because it is so easy to make.  You can make this craft several times before having to buy more supplies.  And the birds will love you!

If you make this craft, I would love to see it and where you hung yours!
