We can look at this topic two different ways…
1. Can you legally homeschool your child?
2. Are you capable of homeschooling your child?

The answer to the first question will depend on your state laws.  I highly recommending checking out HSLDA.org.  HSLDA has a TON of information!!  They will help navigate you through all the legalities.

“HSLDA is a non-profit advocacy organization that makes homeschooling possible by protecting homeschooling families and equipping them to provide the best educational experience for their children. We have been trusted for over 35 years to care for homeschooling families as we safeguard their freedom and secure the future of home education.”

The short answer is YES!   No one on this planet knows your child better than you.  You are your child’s best teacher.

There might be people who know more techniques on how to teach but you have the opportunity to dive in with your child and give him or her an education based on their interests and style.

Yes, teachers went to school but you will learn as you go.  Between the information in the curriculums, what you can find online, and the people you become friends with, you will quickly learn that homeschooling your child is a lot easier than you think.

In many states, you aren’t required to start homeschooling your child until they are 6 but I highly recommend starting with preschool.  Starting with preschool allows you get a feel for what homeschool will be like.  Preschool is fun but it also requires you to set the time aside and add one more thing to balance each day.  It will also give you that extra time to learn your child’s learning style to help you in deciding what curriculum to purchase in the following years.
