Are you looking for a fun and educational activity to do with your kids this 4th of July? Why not make some 4th of July slime? Not only is it patriotic and exciting, but it's a great sensory activity and a great way to incorporate math skills into a hands-on activity. In this blog post, we'll provide you with a recipe for making 4th of July slime and show you how to incorporate numbers for littles when making a recipe.

WHAT YOU NEED:
WHAT TO DO:
Mix the borax with the warm water until it is dissolved.

Pour the glue into a bowl and add the borax water.

Mix until it turns into slime.

Add glitter and stars… as much as you'd like.

HOW YOUR CHILD CAN LEARN WITH THIS ACTIVITY:
Have your children measure out the ingredients for the recipe. Have them identify the letters and numbers on the measuring cups and spoons. They may not understand what any of it means but you can just say, "This is a quarter of a teaspoon" or "This is one cup".  Then you can say, "We will learn about that later".

Have them practice scooping, pouring, and mixing.

You can also have your children count out the stars as they add them to the slime.

Once you mix the stars into the slime, have your child grab a handful and count the number of stars they grabbed.

You can also use it as a sensory activity for your little ones. Have them explore the texture and consistency of the slime and ask them questions like, "Is the slime stretchy or soft?", "How does it feel on your hands?" This will engage their senses and help them learn new descriptive vocabulary words.

Happy 4th of July, everyone!
