Teaching your preschooler how to build letters is a crucial step in their journey to literacy. However, it can be a daunting task to come up with engaging and effective activities that will make it easier for your child to learn.

Here is a simple and fun activity that you can do with your preschooler to help them build letters. This activity is a part of my Apple Unit study and is a great way to integrate learning with play. With these simple steps, your child can effortlessly master letter building and develop their fine motor skills.
Step 1: Put the apple page in a dry-erase pocket

Put the apple page in a dry-erase pocket. This plastic pocket will allow you to reuse the page multiple times with different letters.

Step 2: Write a letter on the apple using a dry-erase marker

Using a dry-erase marker, write a letter on the apple. Choose the letters that your preschooler is familiar with. For example, you can start with letters from their name. This is a great activity to introduce your preschooler to uppercase and lowercase letters.

Step 3: Trace the letter with kidney beans

Using kidney beans, trace the letter on the apple. This is a great way to develop your child's fine motor skills. It also provides a tactile experience for them to remember the shape of the letter better.

Step 4: Take the kidney beans off

Step 5: Trace the letter while wiping it off

For the final step, use a small eraser to trace the letter while wiping it off. This will allow your child to see the letter with clean lines and start all over again with another letter to build.

Repeat these instructions for different letters, and soon your child will be a pro in building letters.

By engaging your child in playful activities, you can help them develop their skills and make it easier for them to learn. With this simple, easy-to-follow activity, your child can learn to build letters in no time.

The letter-building activity is a part of my Apple Unit study.
