The fall season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with a fun pumpkin activity for your preschooler? This pumpkin color-mixing activity is not only fun but also an excellent way to teach preschoolers about basic color-mixing. With just a few materials and some creativity, your little ones can create their own unique and festive Jack-o-Lanterns.

What You Need:

Instructions:
Draw a Jack-o-Lantern on a Zip-Lock bag with a permanent marker.
Add some red and yellow paint to the bag in even amounts.
Close the bag, making sure there is no air inside.
Tape the bag to a wall or table.
Move the paint around with your fingers to mix the colors and create a beautiful pumpkin color.
Once the paint is mixed, you will have an orange pumpkin ready to display.

Benefits:
Not only is this activity perfect for some fall fun, but it also has several benefits for preschoolers. It helps them practice their fine motor skills as they mix and move the paint. It also teaches them about simple color mixing and the color wheel. They learn how red and yellow combine to make orange and they can experiment with different shades of orange by adjusting the amounts of paint used.

This activity can also be an excellent opportunity for conversation and bonding with your little ones, as you discuss the fall season and all its festivities.

Precautions:
While this activity is very safe and straightforward, it's important to keep in mind some precautions. Make sure the Zip-Lock bag is tightly closed to avoid any paint spills. Also, have your child wear clothes that can get dirty, or use an apron to protect their clothes just in case of an accident.

So, grab some paint and a Zip-Lock bag and let the fun begin!

This activity is one of the activities from my Halloween Unit Study.
