The holiday season is the perfect time to indulge in tasty treats and I know how challenging it can be keeping your kids away from all the junk.  But there are still ways to satisfy their sweet tooth.  Let's make some scrumptious Santa hats!  Plus, I'll give you more ideas to inspire you to get creative with holiday-themed treats that your whole family will enjoy.

Santa Hats
These cute little hats are easy to make and the kids love them.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • Bananas
  • Strawberries
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Toothpick
  • Scissors (adults only)
WHAT TO DO:
To make the Santa hats, start by slicing the bananas into 1/2-inch circles.
Next, cut the top and the tip of the strawberry off.
Lay the banana slice flat, place the large end of the strawberry on top of it, then put a mini marshmallow on top of the strawberry.
Pierce the toothpick through all three layers to hold them together.
Voilà! Your healthy Santa hat is ready.

Christmas Tree Vegetable Platter
This colorful platter is not only healthy but also makes for an appealing centerpiece on your holiday table. Arrange a variety of your favorite veggies such as carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes in a Christmas tree shape. Add some hummus or your favorite dip to make it more delicious.

Gingerbread Energy Bites
These gingerbread energy bites are perfect for those who love the flavor of gingerbread but want to avoid the high sugar and fat content of traditional gingerbread cookies.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
WHAT TO DO:
Mix all the ingredients and roll the mixture into small balls. The energy bites can be stored in the fridge or freezer and make for an energizing snack on-the-go.

Don't forget that indulging in a treat or two during the holiday season is perfectly fine too. But, with these healthy treats on hand, you can keep the balance and enjoy your holidays without feeling any guilt. So, start making these treats, and let the holiday festivities begin!
