Let's learn with blocks!  Learn the alphabet, your name, numbers, counting, shapes, and sight words.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Once you've written letters, numbers, shapes, or sight words on the blocks, introduce them to your child. Start by explaining what each block represents and encourage them to repeat the names back to you. This activity will not only help them recognize these symbols but also improve their verbal skills.

Scatter the blocks on a flat surface and ask your child to match identical ones. Make sure to cheer every successful match - this will instill a sense of achievement and motivate them further.

ALPHABET
Challenge your child to arrange the blocks in alphabetical order.
Write uppercase letters on some blocks and lowercase letters on others.   Have your child match the lowercase letters with the uppercase letters.

NUMBERS
Arrange the number blocks in order from 0-20.
Draw dots on some blocks and numbers on other blocks.  Have your child count the dots and match it with the correct number.

SHAPES
Have your child group similar shapes together.

SIGHT WORDS
Sight word blocks can be particularly fun!  Write a sight word on longer blocks and have your child build the letter using the smaller alphabet blocks.

NAME
Write your child's name on longer blocks and have your child build their name using smaller alphabet blocks.

COLORS
Build a tower using only one color.  Do this for every color.  Then, choose your favorite tower.

These activities with blocks are not just entertaining but educational too - they stimulate cognitive development while promoting fine motor skills as well as spatial awareness. What better way to learn than through play?

This is one of the activities from my activity book: Pre-K The Fun Way
The book contains many fun and engaging activities that help your child learn while having fun.
